Focus on learning to teach yoga to kids in a creative and child friendly way: Practice of yoga postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), relaxation techniques and other practices, which improve memory and concentration. Adapting these practices as well as yoga philosophy appropriately for children and teenagers.

Femmy Brug, in cooperation with Yoga Pura Vida, is very grateful to announce the upcoming Kids Yoga Teacher Training Course, which will be held from 19-25 March 2017 in Arusha, Tanzania.
Theme’s and contents of the course:
- Physiology and Psychology of yoga for children
- Practice of yoga postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama), relaxation techniques and other practices, which improve memory and concentration. Adapting these practices as well as yoga philosophy appropriately for children and teenagers. The focus is on learning to teach yoga in a creative and child friendly way.
- Teaching meditation to children
- Group work and discussion
- Age groups, safety aspects, developmental stages, contra indications, special needs
- Yoga in the classroom
- Starting Kids yoga classes, practical aspects
- The use of (yoga) games, play, stories and music in yoga lessons for children

The Kids Yoga Teachers Training has been organized in cooperation with YOGA PURA VIDA:
Yoga Pura Vida is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded by Marcelo Vega, aiming to link, organise, support and expand an international community of yoga teachers and yoga therapists to teach, promote and encourage yoga practices, holistic living, sustainable practices etc.
Yoga Pura Vida (YPV) has recently started their activities in Arusha, offering yoga as outreach classes to local communities and paid classes to International schools, companies and institutions.
YPV is training and guiding a group of Tanzanian yoga teachers, and helping to organize this Children’s Yoga Teachers Training course together with Femmy Brug.
A group of expat and local Tanzanian yoga teachers have become members of the YPV 108team, expats helping as volunteers, local teachers will be employed by YPV, thus providing them with a paid job.

Duration of the course: This intensive module is run over 7 days
Dates: 19-25 March 2017.
Times: we will start at 8.30 every day and finish between 2 and 3 pm

Aim: On completing the module graduates will have the knowledge, skills and confidence to teach creative yoga sessions for children aged between 3 and 18 years old.
The aim of the TTC will also be to train a group of Tanzanian yoga teachers, who will commit to YPV’s mission, to spread the knowledge of yoga in their communities. The Tanzanian yoga teachers will be offered attendance and certification for free. Selected Tanzanian yoga teachers will be invited to join the course.
Assessment: A certificate ‘KIDSYOGA teacher - yoga for children will be given those who successfully complete the module.
Cost: For expat students: 880 US$, down payment 50% to be paid to YPV before 1-12-16

Venue: Dorobo banda, at Olasiti, Arusha, Tanzania.
Who can apply: Yoga teachers and trainee teachers of all yoga traditions. Schoolteachers, therapists and others are also encouraged to apply, provided they have a background in yoga. Participants are expected to have a strong commitment to offering high quality children’s yoga classes.
Requirement: All participants are required to start children’s yoga classes for YPV. This can be an outreach or a paid class of which the revenue’s will go to YPV.
This module is based on: ‘Teaching yoga to Children’ from the British wheel of yoga as developed by swami Vedantananda Saraswati. (See ) Femmy Brug was trained in England by Vedantananda Saraswati, a Yogacharya in the Satyananda tradition. The module has been further developed by Femmy for KIDSYOGA.
