Full Description

Communication is fundamental in teaching a yoga class and creating an optimum experience for your clients.
This experiential workshop is designed to increase your range of abilities, build your confidence and deepen your presence as yoga teacher.
We will be focussing on the main aspects outlined below and you will be invited to work on any areas of communication that are most important to you throughout the day to enrich your learning.

The teaching and exercises will help you get clear on who you are as a teacher at the front of class, how you are received by your students, what language patterns you use and, importantly, what your non-verbal communications are saying (such as tone of voice, expressions and body language).

Programme and content:

UNDERSTANDING TYPES OF COMMUNICATION AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS

Kinetic (physical feeling) - body language, movement, touch.
Boundaries and permission to touch.
• Auditory (sounds, words, tone) - what is said, how is it heard, cadence, space vs content, layering
• Visual (seeing, seen, observation) - the art of seeing the individual and the group

EMPATHY AND INFORMATION

• Putting yourself in your students’ shoes: what's it like for them? How are you received?
• How to ask the right questions to find out what your students actually need.
• How to get the right information when dealing with health issues or injuries
• What to do when you don't know what you're doing

MIND READING

• How expressions can be misunderstood
• How we filter information

OPEN LANGUAGE AND CLEAR QUESTIONS

How to use language to empower your student and to connect with them.

INTERNAL COMMUNICATION

• What are you saying to yourself and how does this affect you and your students?
• How do you enter the room?
• What happens if you make a mistake?
• How to deal with mistakes effectively.

Putting the learning into practice.

This is an interactive and experiential workshop with plenty of exercises throughout the day to help you learn and integrate the knowledge. Bring pens, pads and a flexible mind
