Through the practice of self inquiry and embodied mindfulness we will set an intention to build awareness around one topic per month. Our yoga practice, our asanas and pranayama will assist us in pealing away the layers invite self inquiry about where we are, where we stand, and how we want to be in the world.

Living Your Yoga
Self Inquiry/Self Study of the Yamas and Niyamas

This class is designed as an opportunity for self inquiry with the support of other yogis. The first Friday of each month, we will end our yoga practice with a new 30 day self study of one of the Yamas or the Niyamas. The Yamas and Niyamas guide our social attitude and lifestyle, how we interact with other people and the environment and how we manage our problems.

September 2 – Ahimsa – Thoughtful consideration, kindness, friendliness
October 7 – Satya – Truthfulness
November 4– Asteya – Take nothing that doesn’t belong to us
December 2- Brahmacarya – Movement towards what is essential
January 6 – Aparigrapha – To take only what is necessary
February 3 – Sauca – Cleanliness (inner and outer)
March 3 – Santosa – Modesty, feeling of being content with what we have
April 7 – Tapas – The activity of keeping the body fit, heat, to cleanse
May 5 – Svadyaya – To get close to yourself, self study, self reflection
June 2 – Isvarapranidhana – To lay all your actions to a higher power
July 14 – Further Thoughts on Yamas and Niyaas – Kriya and Sauca
August 4 – Group Reflections and Celebrations

12 month/12 class (2 hours each) yoga package for $125 dollars! You may replace any first Friday class with another class that month if you have to miss one or two.

Each month will continue the self study of the given Yama or Niyama throughout but will be predominantly self inquiry through a given theme, through the practice to nurture curiosity and bring about further exploration of the topic.
