Join former resident teacher Anthea Grimason for a relaxing & fun yet focused & educational yoga retreat in beautiful Thailand.
Type of Event
Together you’ll work on:
Building an Ashtanga yoga self-practice
Developing a safe and simple pranayama practice
Understanding the lifestyle aspects of being a yogi
Learning how to eat, live and practice according to your own body type, season and climate
Developing a restorative yoga practice
The morning yoga class will incorporate guided meditation, pranayama (breath work) and tailored asana (posture) practice. You will learn an Ashtanga-based yoga practice, or have the opportunity take your regular self-practice even deeper, with the focus being on practicing with awareness and intelligence. Each individual will be given the support and attention needed whether completely new to the mat or a regular practitioner. Morning practice will be more intensive, and the day will wind down with restorative and deep relaxation in the afternoons.
Workshops in the afternoon will focus on yoga philosophy, in particular the lifestyle aspects of being a yogi and including the basic principles of Ayurveda. You will discover how to enhance your energy through food that suits your own body type. You will get to enjoy the healthy, delicious food on the buffet at Samahita Retreat buffet, where great emphasis is placed on the importance of food. It serves a dual purpose of healthily nourishing the body and mind while also delighting the senses through great taste and variation.
The retreat also includes optional early morning silent cycle classes, excursions to the local night markets for shopping and street food, and a boat and snorkeling trip to a nearby island. There will also be plenty of time for relaxing by the pool or beach, with access to excellent detox and spa facilities, a complimentary herbal steam room and time to explore the island if you wish.
