When: March 13-19, 2017
Where: Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat, Sulawati, Bali

What could be better than a trip to Bali?

How about a trip to Bali featuring a week at the beautiful Floating Leaf Eco-Luxury Retreat. And I do believe calling it “luxury” is an understatement.

Floating leaf is located on the south-east side of the island situated amidst serene of rice paddies with the Indian Ocean and beautiful beach’s a short walk away. The retreat center is nestled between the villages of Sukawati and Pantai Purnama, away from the busy roads of other communities in Bali. The beautifully appointed rooms have private bathrooms with the option of single or double accommodations. As well as a healing pool with chromatherapy lighting, there is also a beautiful spa where you will receive a 60 minute massage, included in the price of your retreat package.

As well as yoga classes every day on these unique six foot round yoga mats, you will also enjoy 3 meals each day, one massage and two outings during the week, one to Siring Water Temple and another to the village of Keliki. Group outings are optional, you may choose to explore on your own, lounge by the pool or head out to the beach.

Daily yoga classes will be practiced on our round Mandala Yoga Mats, led by Desiree Kleemann, creator of these mats. Classes will be held in the open-air outdoor yoga pavilion with sweeping 360 degree views of the rice fields, Indian Ocean and outlying islands. In the morning you’ll flow through a practice on a beautiful round mat (yours to take home). Late afternoon classes will be gentle and restorative.

•Your own 6 ft round Mandala Yoga Mat will be at the retreat when you arrive, and will be yours to then take home with you.
•We will hand craft our own offerings to then take on a subsequent guided outing for a purification ritual at Tempak Siring Water Temple, the most sacred water spring temple in Bali.
•A guided tour to the village of Keliki, a typical rural Balinese village.

Not Included
•Travel Insurance (highly recommended)

When people ask me why it’s so special practicing on a six ft round mat, my first response is “to experience the freedom of movement.” But it is not just the size, it is also the shape of the mat. A circle, or Mandala, is more than merely a shape. It represents wholeness, with no beginning or end, no sharp corners, a continuous flow. On the Mandala Yoga Mat you feel no confinement or borders. It is not a mat just for exercise, it is a mat to be creative on and enhance your yoga practice, experiencing the freedom of facing every direction in a flowing practice.

For ten years I had the opportunity to dance with Contemporary Dancers in Winnipeg, Canada, studying and performing the works of many well known teachers and choreographers. Upon moving to Vancouver, BC I continued to co
llaborate with other professionals while creating and performing works of my own. After years of living and working with a variety of dance-related injuries, I found the healing effects of yoga to benefit my physical body as well as my general state of mind. This healing path has brought my body back to a place of strength, balance, and ease.

Having had so many teachers inspire and encourage me – artists, kinesiologists, yogis and yoginis – I bring all these varied influences into the studio as a yoga teacher. Running my own Yoga Studio for the past 16 years gives me the opportunity to be creative in my own teaching style. Every time I step onto the mat it feels like coming home – making a full circle from dance to yoga and then blending the two together. I continue to draw from my Modern Dance experience as well as workshops and retreats with many instructors such as Shiva Rea, Sharon Gannon, Sarah Powers and Judith Lasater to encourage my students to find their own creative flow in their yoga practice.

Bali has become a second home for me, and one I love bringing other lovers of the yoga practice, beginners and experienced alike, to join in my retreats and experience the freedom of my Round Yoga Mats and enjoy the culture of Bali.

We had the most amazing time at Desiree’s retreat in Bali.
It was a truly wonderful experience soaking up the beautiful setting, and the inspiring teaching of Desree as our guide though it all. From our arrival to our departure, we were treated to beautiful accommodation, delicious food (all grown right on the grounds), morning and afternoon sessions of yoga in a cool and covered space, and lots of time to relax around the stunning pool, or explore the surrounding area. We made some fantastic new friends within our group too.
We couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable and luxurious yoga experience with the best yoga teacher I’ve ever had.
We will return without question.

Desiree's retreat was pure magic!
The resort itself was like fantasy island and I'm waiting for Charo to pop up! (Must be over 40 to understand).
Des's style in teaching is like no other that guides me on the mat. The music is so bang on too that each class became my new favorite soundtrack to this awesome life I'm having.
Wake, eat beautiful food, Hatha heaven, poolside laughs, more great food, more pool, Yin zen, beautiful candle light dinner across from strangers I now call my friends, sleep, repeat.
Again please!
Blessed yogi,

I went on the Fall 2015 retreat and loved every minute of it. The setting was perfect, the yoga classes of the highest quality, the food absolutely delicious and nutritious, and the people were the BEST! I highly recommend this experience as a way to re-charge your batteries, get in shape and treat yourself to fantastic companionship. Desiree saw to every detail and made our experience fantastic.

This was yoga in paradise. The setting was beautiful beyond anything I had imagined. It was a perfect pairing of peace, serenity, great food, colorful flowers and such lovely people, both retreat staff and yogis. The yoga was perfect for everyone from beginner to advanced and was accompanied by very carefully selected music. I returned from this retreat with a stronger body and a complete feeling of calmness and health. It was a wonderful way to treat myself. There was lots of time for other activities such as cycling, shopping, a visit to a “green school”, beach time and enjoying the new friends I made. Next time I will bring a half empty suitcase as Balinese clothes are so cheap.
