Living in a modern world characterized by unprecedented levels of external stimulation, drawing one’s attention inward and engaging in meditation can be highly challenging without techniques to help us bring focus to our inner exploration. Mantra, an ancient form of sound-based meditation, based on the vibratory sounds of the Sanskrit alphabet, is an important and often overlooked yogic tool for bringing focus and grounding the mind, opening the portals to higher levels of workshop will provide an introduction to the practice of integrating mantra chanting into meditation and breath work (pranayama) to help bring greater focus to the fluctuations of the mind. You will learn about different types, uses and meanings of mantras, experience the practice of japa meditation (repeated recitation of mantra using a 108-bead mala), engage in pranayama integrated together with mantra, and learn several simple mantras to help begin and ground your practice.
