If your schedule is packed, your mind busy, and a sense of balance is hard to find—this class is for you. Join me for this special class exploring embodied meditative yoga for cultivating ease, resilience and the simple satisfaction of being more present.
Class begins with meditation, pranayama, and gentle flowing sequences, followed by a powerful progressive relaxation practice of Yoga Nidra, which leads to deeply relaxed, meditative states where intuition and creativity naturally arise, and the mind is functioning on a much deeper level of awareness. The goal is to activate and maintain the dreamy terrain at the edge of sleep - a transitional state of awareness without actually falling fully asleep - where you have access to deep seated memories as well as your creative mind. Many artists and writers refer to this state as the primary resource for their creative ideas.
Yoga Nidra slows respiration and heart rate and normalizes hormone levels in the body, while reducing stored tension. This improves blood flow and calms the nervous system. Yoga Nidra can support alleviating insomnia, anxiety, depression and stress, and lead to a greater sense of peace and well-being.
Yoga Nidra induces changes of brainwaves to include frequencies which are associated with deep physical relaxation, concentration and meditation, dreams, and deep non-REM sleep. People often come out of the practice with answers to questions, or solutions to previously held problems. As the brain shifts from the awake Beta state to the deeper Alpha and Theta states, you begin to have access to your brain’s creative potential.
All levels welcome.
