Full Description

This afternoon workshop will give you some time and space to press pause, to slow down and make space to breathe. To exhale deeply, to release whatever is no longer serving you and to explore practices that allow you to connect to an inner reserve of steadiness and calm whatever life brings.

As things continue to shift and change in this most extraordinary of years, it’s perfectly normal to feel off-balance, anxious, stressed, exhausted and fearful: sometimes we can feel a whole array of emotions all within the space of a few minutes, which can feel quite overwhelming and confusing.

It is really important that we are as patient and gentle with ourselves in this continuing transition out of lockdown as much as we were in the transition in. 

Thankfully both yoga and mindfulness offer us tools to help us navigate transitions and change with awareness, calmness and steadiness. We can learn to lean into uncomfortable feelings and meet them with kindness; witness our emotions without judgement and find anchors to help steady us from within.

In this afternoon of slowing down, moving mindfully and with awareness, connecting deeply to our breath and eventually becoming still, we can support effective, quality rest and really recharge our batteries, giving ourselves time to fully exhale, to switch off and let go.

We’ll begin with some slow somatic movements allowing us to turn inwards, really connect with our body and unwind tightness and stress. A sequence of long-hold restorative poses will allow the mind and body to quieten, release tensions and to deeply rest. From here, we’ll practice some breathing techniques to calm the nervous system and prepare the mind for resting in stillness, before moving into a guided meditation practice.

We will finish with a deeply nourishing relaxation allowing both the the body and mind to completely rest.

This workshop is for everyone who feels in need of pressing pause, and finding ways to connect to the deep calm, peace and inner resilience that lies deep within us all. Complete beginners to yoga and meditation are very welcome.

You will finish the workshop feeling deeply relaxed, rested, rejuvenated and nurtured, and better able to cope with whatever challenges and changes life brings.
