Open Hands: The Path of Assisting

This workshop approaches hands-on assisting as a spiritual practice, as well as a physical one. We’ll start from the premise that the bond between assister and practitioner is a sacred meeting, no matter how momentary, in which healing, wisdom, and love can be freely exchanged. Through giving and receiving a wide variety of assists, students will immerse themselves in both the mechanics and the philosophy of assisting, as passed on to Jody from the her teacher Janet Stone.

JODY GREENE teaches yoga and meditation at Yoga Tree. For five years, the heart of her yoga practice has been assisting her teacher, Janet Stone, at hundreds of weekly classes, teacher trainings, workshops, retreats, and festivals all over the world. In 2001, Jody began studying Zen Buddhism at Tassajara Zen Mountain Monastery, leading to practice in both lay and monastic settings throughout the past decade.
