Byron Yoga Centre’s part time Non-Residential Melbourne Teacher Training Course is a complete experience with six weekends over five months. The course includes training by Australia’s leading yoga training academy with some of the world’s most experienced trainers.

Established in 1988 by John Ogilvie, Byron Yoga Centre is one of the longest running yoga schools in Australia. The lead teachers have over 20 years of knowledge and expertise.

Level 1 Course Overview

The course consists of a comprehensive program covering a broad range of fascinating subjects all aimed at deepening your understanding of not just the postures, but also pranayama (breathing practices), meditation, and yoga philosophy and lifestyle.

A big focus for us is teaching you to teach and making sure that both your practice and your teaching is safe and aware. All teacher trainees get the opportunity to develop their teaching skills in a real-life context in teaching public classes.

Over a relatively short time, you’ll emerge with the practical skills and confidence to launch your yoga teaching career.

Part A: Practical and Lectures

Over the 6 weekends, practical and lecture sessions will include the following:

Techniques – Training / Practice
Teaching Methodology
Anatomy & Physiology for yoga teachers
Yoga Philosophy / Lifestyle & Ethics for Yoga Teachers
Practicum
Part B: Correspondence

Part B is conducted by correspondence and includes maintaining a journal of self practice. The preparation / study for the Part Time Level 1 Teacher Training Course begins 4 weeks before course commencement date, this must be completed to start your Part Time Level 2.

Level 2 Course Overview

The Byron Yoga Centre Level 2 Part Time Teacher Training Course is designed to deliver our characteristic holistic approach to training that encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the yogic path. Guided by our knowledgeable and friendly teaching staff, in this comprehensive course, we’ll be covering the following areas:

learn to teach pranayama and meditation
gain the skills and knowledge to teach an intermediate yoga class
Level 2 Yoga Philosophy
Level 2 Asanas
Level 2 Anatomy and Physiology
Refining your teaching skills with ‘real life’ practice teaching opportunities from day 1
Part A: Practical and Lectures

Over the 6 weekends, practical and lecture sessions will include the following:

Anatomy & Physiology for yoga teachers
Yoga Philosophy / Lifestyle & Ethics for Yoga Teachers
Practicum
Part B: Correspondence

Part B is conducted by correspondence and includes maintaining a journal of self practice. The preparation / study for the Part Time Level 2 Teacher Training Course begins 4 weeks before course commencement date, then continues by correspondence after the intensive at a personal pace, for as long as the trainee needs.

Level 1 and Level 2 Teacher Training Qualification

The Byron Yoga Centre’s Level 1 and Level 2 part time Teacher Training Course’s are fully accredited with Yoga Alliance and Fitness Australia approved for 15 CEC’s. They are designed to deliver holistic training that encompasses the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the yogic path.

The style of yoga taught on the course is Purna Yoga – integrating asana, breath, meditation and philosophy.
