Pratyahara: The forgotten limb of Patanjali
Pratyahara is the bridge between the physical practices of yoga and the more subtle practice of Meditation. Too often students are focused on the the first 4 limbs, rushing or leaping into the last 3 of Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi (sanyama). Pratyahara is the essential skill or practice of not being driven by the senses, but to allow ones attention to be purely within. It is this practice that allows us to move into the subtle body and is necessary to move towards deep, attentive concentration.
