Full Description

Restorative Yoga, through long held, prop supported postures, teaches that even though a pose appears to be still, there is a subtler action going on that involves a symphony of breath and body that brings the entire being into a state of deep repose and release. Yoga therapy is using the right pose for that unique person with purpose. It is a process of discovering what works for you as the student and teacher. Combined with intention and clear direction, you can learn to skillfully recognize a student’s needs by drawing on your own experience and awareness to what’s happening while it’s happening.

The intensive is suitable for anyone with at least one years consistent yoga experience up to teacher level. Each day will consist of two sessions with an additional 3-4 evening restorative and yoga nidra sessions.

• Break down active and passive restorative poses.
• Utilize props as tools for enhancing a pose in supportive and nurturing way.
• Develop the art of skillful assists vs. adjustments of postures.
• Gain understanding of the wisdom of yoga therapy: how to offer successful one-on-one client and postural assessments; the structure of a yoga therapy session; injury prevention and management.
• Explore Yoga Nidra in the context of restorative yoga and yoga therapy.
• Explore experiential anatomy in a fun, interactive, and memorable way with Asana. A keen understanding of anatomy will guide you in understanding healing strategies for your yoga therapy clients.
