The weekend inludes:
Biomechanics and injury prevention workshop with Team North Face athlete, ultra runner and physical therapist Nikki Kimball.
The workshop will look at methods of predicting, and therefore avoiding, running-related injuries, keeping in mind that our bodies change over time. Past injuries, pregnancies and other physical stresses of our active lives impact our bodies in complicated ways, which present unique challenges to each runner.
No single fix exists for a particular injury, nor does any one exercise or aspect of running form help every runner. Each of us is unique. We need drills and exercises specific to our own current situation. Even among full-time professional racers much variety exists; running form, areas of tightness, strength, or weakness differ greatly between individuals. Most runners add to these basic variations by fitting their running into a life complete with kids, careers, relationships and other commitments. The workshop provides you with tools to avoid common injuries as well as methods of managing individual concerns.
Trail run and personal coaching with Nikki. Taking what was covered in the workshop onto the trail. Trail running is different than running on busy city streets. Rather than stop lights and cars, we’ll navigate our way over rocks and roots, through wildflower meadows up to a scenic mountain vista with only the sound of our breath (we're at altitude so there's no doubt we'll be breathing hard) and nature all around.
Daily yoga sessions with yoga and meditation instructor, and personal trainer, Amy Strom. The practice will be geared to runners and will be a blend of Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra and Meditaiton. Open to all levels.
