Saimavik Studio Arctic Yoga Teacher Training

Saimavik Studio is offering it's very first Yoga Teacher Training, right here in the heart of Nunavut's Capital - Iqaluit this fall and winter. Lets gain knowledge and keep our minds sharp over this long dark season!

Full Description

Have you wanted to become a yoga teacher and have a positive impact on your community? Do you want to take your yoga practice to the next level? This is your chance to become the first wave of newly trained yoga teachers right here in Nunavut!

The training will take place as the beautiful Saimavik Studio It will be your home away from home!

Your in great hands with Master trainer Kerry Lawson, Yoga Alliance accredited Yoga Teacher Trainer and Christine "Lil*Bear" Lamothe, Yoga Alliance accredited Yoga Teacher.

After successfully completing this intensive 2 part training, you will be a certified Yoga Teacher. This allows you to start your new career as a wellness worker or coach. The sky is the limit!

A little more about your teachers: Kerry has been travelling throughout Nunavut since 2003 offering Yoga courses in the schools and various facilities. she created and taught a yoga facilitators guide to help school teachers use yoga in the classroom. Lil*Bear has been teaching dance around Nunavut since 2006 and Yoga since 2011. She opened Saimavik Studio to bring more health and wellness opportunities to Nunavut. Offering this teacher training to spread more health programs around the arctic is another dream coming true for Lil*Bear. More information at

The course includes YTT manual, full face-to-face instructions and practice, and upon successful completion you will receive your certificate. Accommodations, travel, other meals and mandatory books are the students responsibility. Required reading information will be announced soon.

POSSIBLE FUNDING AVENUES: Your local wellness funding might be able to support aspects of this training for you. We are also working to find other sources to support Nunavut & Nunavik residents. About the training: Total price: $4,000+tx (5%)= $4,200 includes the registration fees & the program manual. It does not include required books, meals, travel and accommodations (for those living outside of Iqaluit).

HOW TO PAY: Send Electronic Money Transfer to: or arrange to meet in person for cash, cheque or debit at the studio. If you want to pay online or at the studio with a credit card, there will be an additional 3% processing charge.

This course is intensive. Be ready to learn - a lot! We will all be there to support each other so don't worry. Please practice yoga regularly before you come.

Waitlist available if we reach our current maximum of 16 students. If we receive an overwhelming response, we will consider increasing the capacity.

For travel and accommodations: Sport and Recreation Division under the GN has the Recreation Leaders and Volunteer Training. You can apply as an individual or through your Hamlet or a Non-Profit in your community. Also the Department of Economic Development has some business funding. Teaching yoga can be considered a small business which can be run out of your home. You can contact EDT for their Small Business Support. Again this is only for Nunavut Residents.
