During the fullness of Spring, we often find ourselves as busy as ever: wrapping up the school year, anxiously awaiting the summer break, and preparing for the next life event. Let's take the time to re-set and care for ourselves as we transition from the fullness of Spring to usher in the slow, relaxing, and playful qualities of Summer. Brittany will lead you through a warm-up of gentle yoga poses, pranayama (breath practice), and meditation intended to calm the nervous system and relax the body. Then, she'll introduce the fundamentals of Restorative Yoga, guiding you through a typical set of Restorative Yoga poses in a gentle and compassionate way. Give yourself the gift of pausing in the fullness of May to rest and rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit. Treat yourself to deep relaxation and peace: Restorative Yoga.
What is restorative Yoga?
Coined by the late master BKS Iyengar (Light on Yoga), Restorative Yoga combines the use of props, gentle breath work, and extended time in specific therapeutic poses to achieve deep relaxation of the mind and body. Perfect for students trying yoga for the first time, coming back to yoga from an injury, or for those students seeking relief from stress or anxiety, Restorative Yoga is also particularly beneficial for those coping with insomnia, headaches, fatigue, or an overstimulated nervous system.
