Yoga Dance is a unique and invigorating approach to body-spirit fitness, incorporating elements of movement therapy, Qi Kung, Yoga, and dance.
Yoga Dance classes are a balance of directed and spontaneous movement. Each class is unique. Although there is not a set format to a Yoga Dance class, there is a generally a gentle warm up with a progression of movements to loosen up the joints. As the music tempo increases, participants start to move with more rhythm and power. Gradually the instructor stops being the choreographer and invites students to create their own movement patterns. From here students may find themselves dancing alone, with a partner or in a small group. At the end of the class, the students come back together to share the joy, peace, and community that they have just created.
