Full Description

Join us for a 7 day / 7 night luxurious immersion into classical authenticity in the Chianti, Italy. On this deluxe yoga retreat holiday, you have the the opportunity to discover and explore “the” most famous and beautiful region of Tuscany, and see it through the lens of the locals.

This week of yoga and “living life as a local” is a bespoke experience designed to allow you plenty of time to slow down, savor and celebrate the beauty of simplicity, refinement and excellent taste that only a location like the Chianti offers.

Panoramic views of blossoming vineyards, neatly lined row upon row of olive trees, colorful fields of wildflowers, and nature’s complete blooming abundance surround you and your ultra private and peaceful villa “home for a week”.

The nurturing and healing practices of yoga, meditation and mindfulness are perfectly paired with a series of exploratory journeys in the surrounding towns, countrysides and medieval cities which guarantee to offer you an insider’s perspective on “Only in the Chianti” experiences.

Together, we will understand Tuscany from a local’s point of view, discovering firsthand its ancient traditions while meeting young and passionate local artists and producers. You will “refine your palate” by tasting genuine and authentic food and wine while learning the whole “life” of a product, from farm to table.

From organic wine tastings to cheese-making lessons, from slow-food cooking classes to local handicraft: wood carving, jewelry art and pottery, you will connect to the understated luxury of simplicity, slowing down and savoring each and every moment …both on and off your yoga mat.

--The Location--
The Chianti is famously known as one of the most attractive territories in Tuscany, along with being one of the most favoured wines known throughout the world.

Located thirty minutes from Florence, our private Villa is nestled amongst the unique Chianti landscape which hosts rolling hills covered with fields of family vineyards and olive groves that date back generations.

Behold vistas of small stone villages with red tiled roofs and countryside homes that boast cypress trees lined drives. Panoramas of oak, pine and chestnut tree forests offer idyllic postcard views that have inspired and attracted visitors from all over the world.

The peaceful, private and picturesque environment inspires feelings of deep relaxation, creativity and freedom to explore the art of slowing down and living in the moment.

Wander amongst the olive trees and grapevines, swim in the salt water pool, enjoy a massage or reiki treatment, take a meditation walk along small winding paths that were put in place hundreds of years ago, or simply rest in a hammock under the olive trees with a book.

This is your week to slow down, savor and practice the art of mindfulness and presence.

--The Yoga--
Twice daily Slow Yoga inspired hatha, yin, meditation and mindfulness healing sessions allow you to ease into your day and prepare you for a blissful night of rest and restoration.

All levels of practitioner are welcome to join this retreat, and special needs can be accommodated.

During the week, you will meet many young, fun and passionate artists and producers who carry forth the traditions of food, wine and culture that is exclusive to the Chianti.

Our on site meals at the villa are lovingly prepared with the “farm to table” approach. You will taste the finest seasonal ingredients freshly picked from the nearby gardens and local farms. For our offsite gastronomical adventures, we will meet and taste local specialties that are exclusive to the Chianti region. Wine, olive oil, honey, cheese tastings and creative “slow food movement” inspired meals will tantalize and elevate all of your senses.

When it comes to food and nourishment, our healthy, eco-friendly philosophy & lifestyle allows you to supports and fully embrace the local community. Each and every encounter of the week is an invitation to slow down, savor and mindfully enjoy yourself and the inspiring natural surroundings.

--“Only in the Chianti” – Experience Life as a Local--
To compliment our inspirational Slow Yoga & Mindfulness sessions, daily “Only in the Chianti” excursions are included in your retreat package.

I. History & Hiking: Meet the Chianti & it’s Goat Cheese
Our first day’s journey is a gentle, playful and picturesque hike amongst and between tiny local villages. On the way, we will have a refreshing “merenda” picnic, enjoying local “panini” in the fields as we toast the beautiful vista with a good glass of wine.

After our countryside lunch, we will continue onwards along breathtaking paths to visit an organic goat farm and cheese producer. We will meet the owner and his staff of adorable goats who will tour us through their organic farm. Our generous host will demonstrate and share the wisdom of organic production as we taste freshly made goat cheese and watch the baby goats play hide and seek with one another.

II. Wine & Wood
Our second journey leads us to a fascinating wood-turning workshop. Here, you will meet a modern day Geppetto named Giorgio, a local artisan who set up shop in the Chianti to custom make his unique creations using local olive wood as his medium. Bowls, boards, small objects, and everything and anything that Giorgio can imagine on this day will be brought to life through his skillful demonstration as he shows us his mastery of various machines and materials.

Afterwards, we will amble onto one of the most historic wineries in the Chianti Classico area. A private tour and wine tasting will be followed by a delightful and delicious lunch on the property.

After our afternoon yoga session at the villa, our day will be “Chianti” complete with an apricena [light dinner and drinks] at a tiny family owned restaurant tucked in the hills. We will nestle in amongst the locals as we enjoy an evening of local friendship, fun and the freshest local meats, vegetables, fruits and organic wine.

III. Extra Virgin!
Our third journey leads us to an artisanal oil mill, where you will discover all the secrets about high quality extra virgin olive oil. A personalized tour of the oil mill will be followed by a professionally certified extra virgin olive oil tasting.

Not only will you be tasting some of the most highly rated olive oils in the world, you will also learn about the best uses and food pairings that showcase each and every ingredient.

During the late afternoon, the most ideal time for inspirational sunlight and sounds, we will visit the charming village of Montefioralle and the famous village of Greve in Chianti. Prepare yourself for some shopping as we will be stopping at the renowned butcher’s shop and the largest and most famous wine shop in all of the Chianti.

IV. Cooking & Wine 101
Our fourth journey begins at home with a culinary lesson focusing on the art of making fresh pasta. Here is an unforgettable and educational experience where you will get to play with your food as you learn to make several different varieties. Gluten free, never fear – we’ve got you covered! The best part? You get to eat everything you create for lunch!

After a well deserved break from all your hard pasta making and eating, we will depart to visit a small organic and biodynamic wine producer. Our hosts will be welcoming us into their classroom of vast vineyards where you will see an organic approach to wine and farming in the Chianti.

Afterwards, we will gather in a small cellar on the property to taste some of their most prized vintages. All this prepares you for our celebratory dinner at a local restaurant featuring another unique sampling of the organic wine and sustainable, Tuscan cuisine.

V. Town & Country
Our fifth journey is an early afternoon visit to the stunning medieval hilltop city of San Gimignano in the Siena region. This magical location is famously known for its array of medieval towers that can be seen from miles away. After we arrive, you can drift off with plenty of free time to enjoy the traditional shops and taste the “best ice-cream in the world”!

We will reunite as a group to visit a silversmith workshop to see the artisans working up close and personal. Shopping is always optional, however you may in fact be enchanted with a one of a kind piece to take home.

Afterwards, we will move onto a smaller locale, the beautiful and charming medieval village of Monteriggioni, where more shops, gelato and Tuscan specialties await your presence.

All roads do lead to home, where we will return for a late afternoon of relaxation, followed by yoga under the Tuscan sun, and dinner.

VI. Hello, Honey & Fields of Gold
Our sixth and final journey is the sweetest of all! We will visit an organic honey producer, where you will be discovering the world of Tuscan bees and their delicious product: honey. First, you will be guided through the farm to see how each little bee keeps busy, and understand the inner workings of an organic bee’s life & their hives.

Brimming with sweet knowledge, we will follow our tour to the terrace to indulge in a delicious and healthy lunch focusing on the best of honey and food pairings.

As we will make our way back to the villa, we will stop in the famous “Golden Valley” to soak up the environment and behold an unforgettable vista that has inspired songs and music for centuries.

We return home for down time, sunset yoga and a celebratory last night dinner featuring a beautiful aperitivo and polenta party.
