Recognising mindfulness within yoga can help enrich teaching practices and offer students a greater depth of experience.
Mindfulness has gained popularity as a distinct practice away from its traditional roots and whilst this is a helpful and valuable move within society, its acceptance can imply that it is something ‘other’ than the practice of yoga. In this workshop a short talk will be followed by a yoga practice to experience the presence and embodied attention that is inherent with the meditative art of yoga. Paying attention to listening and responding, alongside mindful teaching space and language can enrich both our teaching practices and the depth of the journey that our students can meet.
