Full Description

The Synergy Session is an opportunity for individuals to come together in a safe space and explore freedom of movement. It's about stepping out of your comfort zone and trying something different. Our hope is for people to connect with each other, with the way the body moves, and with the food that gives that body the nourishment it needs to fully explore its capabilities. Connection to food and local farmers is of real importance at the Synergy Sessions, and we wish to educate as well as feed.
Imagine an experience where you can move confidently no matter what your skill level, exactly as you want, exploring all possibilities. The Synergy Session is an energizing practice to kick off your Sunday; free your inner self. Just be you!

The event includes early morning meditation, 90 minute playful yoga practice, followed by an all out dance party. Refreshments include 100% local, organic juice bar and wheat grass shots, as well as breakfast! The event will include live music by DJ Van Andreas and live art by Jared Washam, the art will be given away to one lucky participant at the end of the event!

Bright colors are definitely encouraged, as well as hoops, poi, juggling props and whatever else you’d like to bring that’s playful and fun and will enhance your morning rave experience! Come out and connect with this fantastic community!

Food by Klippers Organic Acres, Forstbauer Family Natural Food Farm, Cedar Isle Farms & Vancouver Food Pedalers Cooperative

Co-Founder&Movement Guide - Hillary Mastrodicasa
For as far back as she can remember Hillary has been moving. She grew up as a ballerina and started practicing yoga in 2013 while living in Cusco, Peru. Ask anyone close to her, this girl is high energy, always bouncing around, there's a playfulness to her movement. An extremist, long-time raver, local food enthusiast and aspiring homesteader, the Synergy Session gave her the opportunity to bring together all the facets of her past and present experiences to create a growing community and an awesome party! She is very passionate about this project and looks forward to sharing what she knows and learning from you!

Co-Founder&Bartender - Richard Glickman
Originally from London in the UK, Richard grew up in a thriving rave scene and spending many summer's working at music festivals. These festivals gave him the opportunity to work for Smooth Criminals, an amazing pop up healthy snack bar, which solidified his love of nutritious food and forging a connection between food, music and the movement community ever so present at festivals. Having recently immersed himself in the Vancouver highline community he understands facing your fears, freeing yourself from the ego and being playful in his movements. Time makes fools of us all, but still holding on to the rave passion, he co-founded The Synergy Session to bring together, music, movement and delicious food.

Live DJ - Van Andreas
Teo Van Raalte has been a lover of music since an early age. He grew up listening to his family’s old rock and jazz records. In high school he developed a love of hip hop and rap, mostly due to the emphasis on the low frequencies. Nowadays he doesn’t limit himself to any one genre, but specializes in the deep and smooth styles that make you feel. An avid slackliner, he knows how to bring balance and presence on and off the dance floor. Expect to be taken on an evolving journey through sound.

Live Artist&Graphics - Jared Washam
Rooted in the techniques and traditions of street art, Jared’s work aims at themes of balance, ephemerality and the collaboration between doer and observer. Inspired by Asian paper-cuts, contemporary typography, graf culture and digital flaws like glitches and pixelation, he creates a space for observation of the contemporary experience we all currently share; an opportunity to look around corners, behind layers and through the veil.

Urban Farmer - Amanda Hehner
Though she grew up in the concrete heart of Canada’s biggest city, Amanda has always felt a deeper connection to leaves and mud. From building bug houses at recess to working on orchards around the world, she has made her life about forming a connection between the human system of order and the chaotic natural world. Now working on a small-scale urban farm, Amanda helps grow a variety of sprouts and micro greens, as well as the sweetest wheatgrass around (really!) She is super excited to be a part of the Synergy Session, and to add fuel to this awesome fire.
