Full Description

Vanda Scaravelli was a long-time student of Iyengar and Desikachar and a lifelong friend with Krishnamurti. All this reflects in Vanda’s way and teaching of yoga. Her legacy is a constant encouragement towards exploration and playful inventiveness. Sandra Sabatini is one of the foremost students of Vanda’s. Sandra Sabatini and Michal Havkin have been sharing yoga together for over 15 years in Europe, USA and India.

The weekend with Sandra and Michal will offer the students a gentle way to practice yoga for the benefit of the whole body. The sessions will include some Feldenkrais movements to facilitate a playful and different experience of yoga poses. The unfolding the body will go along with the unfolding of the breath supported by a slow and meditative approach.

About the teachers:

Sandra Sabatini is one of the foremost teachers of the Scaravelli approach to yoga. Sandra practiced yoga with Vanda Scaravelli, author of Awakening the Spine, for 17 years and has been teaching internationally for more than 35 years. It is Vanda Scaravelli’s gift of yoga with its emphasis on breath, gravity and the spine that is at the heart of Sandra’s unique teaching style. Sandra is also the author of three books: Breath: the Essence of Yoga and Like a Flower: my years of yoga with Vanda Scaravelli; and Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer – Yoga Through The Seasons.

After more than 30 years as a professional dancer and teacher of modern dance, Michal Havkin found enrichment in her yoga practice. The yoga Michal teaches is rooted in the Scaravelli tradition, connecting to the breath, gravity and space. It is a slow-moving practice with constant awareness on the breath and the minute changes in the body, each and every day. Michal incorporates some Feldenkries movements towards facilitating a playful and different experience of yoga positions. She teaches groups and individual yoga classes in Israel as well as workshops in Europe.

“A different life begins and the body expresses a happiness never felt before”.
– Vanda Scaravelli
