Full Description

A fun exploration of safe alignment of key asanas in the Ashtanga practice and how subtle changes in breath and drishti (combined with mindful technique), can completely change an asana.

We will explore how verbal guidance and hands-on adjustments can allow the practitioner to understand how to work with the body, until refined muscle memory manifests.

Having a strong knowledge of technique and the mechanics of the body, allows the practitioner to develop an awareness that can be applied throughout the Ashtanga series and thus focus on developing a moving meditation.

Students will also have the opportunity to ask Philippa about asanas from the Primary, Intermediate and Advanced series, that are proving tricky within their own personal practice, so that we can explore how subtle changes in technique (and the synchronisation of breath, drishti and movement) can allow an asana to reveal itself.

Suitable for established Ashtanga practitioners, who have a willingness to explore and learn and who have a sound knowledge of at least the Standing asanas, half Primary series and Finishing Sequence.
