The Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Patras commences its yogic year in Patras at Fitathlon, the space especially adjusted for practices as such. The year begins with a rather important seminar on the Tradition of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. For three whole days in a row, the loved by many, devoted to the practice and globally renowned Ashtanga Yoga teacher, Maria Tsakona, will be with us once again, along with Spyros Kapnias Garudananda, to give a workshop on ‘Vinyasa in Ashtanga Yoga- Theory and Practice’
Having 25 years of practice, Maria Tsakona is the only Certified Ashtanga Yoga Teacher in Greece, authorized from KPJAYI Org, the core of Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore, India, who is eligible to teach the Advanced series of Ashtanga Yoga. She is also one of the six Certified Ashtanga Teachers throughout Europe, and the only one LEVEL 3 in Greece according to the official site of KPJAYI Org
Spyros Kapnias Garudananda is a Senior Teacher E500 Yoga Alliance and was introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in 2000 from Maria Tsakona. Since then, he is being trained uninterruptedly in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga from renowned Teachers of the Tradition. He is also a disciple of Sri TK Sribhashyam, the son of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, for ten years now, studying through the source of the Tradition.
Vinyasa is the most substantial element in Ashtanga differentiating it from other Traditions in Yoga. Ashtanga Yoga is a specific tradition where every posture has a precise number of breaths and moves. Every posture has a particular way of focusing the gaze (drishti) and the energy flow. All the above constitute the Core of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
During the Workshop we will explore the external part of Ashtanga Yoga, which is the specified number of breaths and moves in every asana of the First Series.
