Why this retreat? Mastering transitions is mastering life. We are in constant transitions and knowing to flow through them in ease, makes life much more blissful.

Deepen your yoga practice, get awesome workshops to master yoga asana, make yoga philosophy practical, relax into yin, and have time to get your yoga questions answered. There will be plenty of time to relax, explore, play, kayak, swim in the lake, read, and get pampered in the spa (message and spiritual work). Many optional tours can be organized with known guides to villages, markets and more.

Why Lake Atitlan? A sacred land where the Mayan culture is still alive. You can see men and women wearing traditional clothing, growing coffee, weaving their unique tapestries or hosting traditional ceremonies. (We will have a shaman host a fire ceremony on our retreat). The lake itself is considered one of the top 5 most beautiful lakes in the world! Surrounded by quiet volcanoes, old school wooden fishing canoes, and small villages around. Many people who come to visit, start seeking ways to move here (me included:))

Why Villa Sumaya? There are many retreat centers out there, but few are on the lake, with most rooms having lake view, beautiful yoga rooms with stunning lake and volcanoes views, hot tub, amazing food, and great service. The center supports both creating community and new friends, as well as space for quiet time and being present.

Why Doron? Want someone to look at you and your practice as a unique individual? Someone with trained eyes and lots of experience that may help you break through those long-lasting challenges. Do you want someone mature that can see you beyond your body and help you thrive spiritually and mentally? A yoga teacher in the traditional sense – someone who practices and teaches the entire spectrum of yoga. Doron spent many months this past year in training, including 4 moths in India and completing 3rd series teacher training with Tim Miller. He has also finished his book “The Yoga Lifestyle” that will be published by Llewellyn Publishers, June 8th 2016.

Why January? Clean yourself up from the past year, and get prepared for a new one. Return home with a clean mind and lots of amazing gifts – many hand-made in Guatemala for very reasonable , bags, shirts, paintings, wood masks and carvings and so much more.

Is it safe? Yes. You will have transportation arranged for you at the airport as you arrive. The lake itself is safe, and especially the retreat center. It is owned and run by a gorgeous spiritual women from the bay area. She has lived there for over 20 years and knows the ways of the locals as well as the needs of the foreigners.

“Although I have practiced yoga for nearly six years, my week in Samasati allowed me to experience the practices of yoga at a different level. I have never gone on a trip without friends or family so it was with some interpretation that I signed up for the week retreat. What I experienced has set me on a new course that I love – and my family notices, I am more at peace. Thank you for creating an environment that felt safe, supportive and liberating.” Mary Spangler. Costa Rica Retreat 2011. Mary since joined 2 more international retreats to Guatemala.

“This workshop has been one of the best I have ever taken. Doron’s knowledge and ability for communicating are really outstanding. The information he has covered has been extremely interesting for me and he has done a great job addressing everyone’s questions and needs. Absolutely inspiring and motivating.” Anonymous – Esalen Workshop feedback form

“I have to say again that you teach a very good class. Not trying to flatter – I always mean what I say. I have practiced with many teachers over the years, few of them stand out and you are definitively one of them. Your students are lucky.” Ana, Los Altos, CA
