9am to 6pm
early bird until December 31, 2013.
Teaching yoga and mindfulness to teens is a great opportunity to share the joy and benefits that these practices can offer young people in coping better with stress and worries in everyday life.
Looking at the challenges of teaching teens in urban settings, we will experiment with practical exercises to address the demands and expectations from state schools, independent schools, parents and yoga studios, as well as explore working with different group dynamics such as gender, age, ethnicity and behavioural aspects.
Taking into account physical, cognitive, psychological and behavioural developmental stages of teenagers as well as the demands that our society and educational system pose onto this age group, we will explore your relationship with the student and ways of supporting teens in coping better with stress and worries, focussing on specific issues such as violence, aggression and mistrust in the classroom.
In this workshop we will also explore opportunities and responsibilities of teaching young people, and use practical exercises for combining yoga & mindfulness.
To participate in this one-day training you will need to have basic knowledge of yoga and working with teenagers.
