Come enjoy the many benefits that a Yin Yoga practice offers paired with hands on Thai Yoga/Shiatsu bodywork. Yin Yoga targets the deeper connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. The poses are held for longer period of time, anywhere from 1-5 minutes or longer, depending on the level of the practitioner. Yin Yoga is also based upon the Chinese Meridian System, so you are stimulating and balancing on a deep energetic level as well. Shannon will guide you into poses and then give each student individualized attention with hands-on bodywork, thus enhancing your level of relaxation and increasing the many benefits of the practice. Suitable for almost all levels, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
