Full Description

Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other yoga style; however, it directs the asana practice into the connective tissues, ligaments, and joints which are not exercised very much in an active (or yang) asana practice. Suitable for nearly all levels of students, yin yoga is a perfect compliment to the dynamic and muscular (yang) yoga practice that emphasizes internal heat, alignment, and lengthening and contracting of muscles. Yin Yoga can seem boring, passive, or easy but it can be quite challenging due to the long holding of poses (2-20 minutes) and the quiet depth we explore inside the body and mind. Joints and tissues become strengthened and rehabilitated with yin yoga. This style isn’t about changing and pushing ourselves like a yang class, but instead, the yin style allows for a gentle and quiet power to arise facilitating a deep release of healing. Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to exercise. You will want to experience this to really know what yin yoga is all about. This workshop will help take your yang practice to a new level by adding the missing, yin piece to your practice. Yin yoga helps to regulate the body’s energy and allows for a deeper connection of mind, body, and spirit.
