Has ‘survival mode’ become the new normal? It’s no surprise that the body and mind might manifest the stresses and challenges faced this year. For many the answer is physical exercise such as running which releases endorphins to momentarily make us feel better, but if the body is already in fight or flight this signals to the body that we are still in danger, and keeps us in a state of overdrive.
To restore balance we need to call on the parasympathetic nervous system. Our rest and digest response, to undo the work of sympathetic division after a stressful situation and to find a state of Yin.
