Have you ever seen a cow dance? Well, they do. Every year when they're let out of the barn after winter they jump around, kicking their legs and enjoying the freedom of the great outdoors. We have the same needs. We spend most of our waking hours inside, sitting down. We need to cowdance too! To meet this need, and help counteract negative effects of the daily grind, I am running a 'Yoga and Adventure' weekend retreat this coming October.
This retreat is about letting go of our indoor lives and experiencing the outdoors. With that in mind, on Saturday, there are two completely optional activities to take part in.
Have you ever wondered what the world is like beneath your feet? On Saturday, you will have the opportunity to explore a part of the cave system created by the marvellous geology of the Yorkshire Dales. Limestone and water combine to result in a wonderous experience for keen explorers. The caves that we will visit are perfect for those new to being underground. There are frequent exit points (the shortest cave takes just a couple of minutes to walk through) in case you get a bit nervous, and you can stand up for most of the way. If you haven't ever been caving this is a fantastic opportunity to give it a go in a supportive environment with an experienced guide. In the morning, we will practice relaxing breathing techniques that you can use during the trip if you start to feel nervous. There's a world beneath our feet waiting to be explored.
If you don't fancy caving there will also be the option of going on a guided hike. Leave the map behind and take in the scenery!
Of course, you may decided that you would prefer to take a gentle stroll, read a good book, or snooze; that's fine too. I'll need to know in advance, though, so please let me know when you book what your preference is.
Accommodation: We will be staying in a luxurious barn conversion in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, complete with hot tub, 5 bathrooms, 11 bedrooms (2 of which are en first come first served!) and glorious views. The nearest town is Chapel-le-Dale, and Ribbleshead train station is nearby too. A free shuttle to the house is available if you let me know in advance when you will be arriving.
Food: I am a passionate believer in good quality food and I really want everyone to enjoy the meals that are served, both in terms of taste and good health. Everything will be prepared from scratch with no stock cubes or pre-made sauces and will be hearty, gluten free and vegetarian. Breakfast will be served after our morning yoga practice, taking us through to lunch, which is being provided by Herriot's Kitchen in Hawes. Evening meals will be a feast of healthy honest food that is easy to digest. If you have any dietary requirements please do let me know beforehand as I would be happy to accommodate you.
Shared Twin Room: £285
Single Room: £520
