Full Description

Near a river, the Big Banana Island Retreat center is dedicated to yoga and meditation and is located in Kerala, about 25 km from Cochin. This magical place has a soothing and tropical nature.

Historically, we are at the heart of a region that has been nourished by cultural contributions of other civilizations. On the other side of the river stands the oldest Jewish synagogue in India, and only 10 km from this retreat is the oldest mosque in India, Cheraman Juma Masjid.

You will be welcomed as if you were a member of the family of this Indian village, which is the perfect setting for an exceptional yoga retreat: Ashtanga Yoga and Ayurveda.

It aims to help you discover the Yoga of Guru Pattabhi Jois (asanas, kriyas, pranayama, meditation and yoga sutras) or deepen your "ashtanga practice" and its transformative effects on the body and mind.

Meanwhile, this retreat is an opportunity for you to study the correlation between these two ancient sciences: Yoga (Vedic Science of Self-realization) and Ayurveda (Vedic Science of healing the body and mind).

Indeed, in addition to yoga classes, you will be able to enjoy Ayurvedic treatments in the purest tradition (Abhyangam, Steam Bath, Podikhizi, Elakikizhi, Lepanam).

During this retreat, we will propose you a healthy cuisine which will consist of a variety of organic & bio dishes suited to the climate, the well being of your body and your mind.
