Take yourself off the grid, bring some fresh air into your yoga practice and get grounded with nature on our Yoga & Hiking Retreat. This week long retreat offers the chance to combine the practice of Yoga with hiking in one of the most beautiful national parks in Italy and one of the biggest areas of uninterrupted forest in Europe.

This retreat is the perfect opportunity to take yourself away from the hustle and bustle of life, disconnect to reconnect discovering the beauty of this national parkland. If you are a beginner to yoga or a regular practitioner it offers space to dedicate some time to your yoga practice.
Yoga and Hiking complement each other perfectly. Hiking is great for the heart & lungs but can create tight muscles. With the addition of yoga to help loosen hamstrings, build flexibility and strength, deepen breathing and improve mobility means that one exercise will fill the gaps left by the other so your health and fitness gets an overall boost!

• Transfer to and from Bibbiena on day of arrival and departure
• 7 nights accommodation at a beautiful Farmhouse surrounded. Camping or Shared accommodation (first come first serve)
• All meals, vegetarian (Most is grown on-site!) Gluten/dairy intolerant is catered for on prior request
• Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. All water flowing into the camp is fresh mountain spring drinking water.

The yoga sessions combine Hatha, Vinyasa Flow and Yin and Yoga Nidra to improve your strength, flexibility and range of movement. Morning sessions will be stronger flows to warm the body and get you ready for the day focusing stretching the muscles and open joints. Evening classes are more restorative where we will hold postures a little longer helping you to relax after your day of walking and release any tightness in the body.
This retreat is open to conscious beginner up to intermediate students, all classes will have variations and modifications for your body. Please bring any additional props you like to practice with.
YOGA WITH KELLY
Kelly is known for her fun relaxed yoga sessions. They are challenging yet light hearted. Kelly’s classes are best described as Ashtanga, Vinyasa flow inspired with a strong focus on alignment because of her background in Iyengar. If you’re new to yoga and not quite sure what that means, the best way to explain her classes is they are designed to help you feel great and confident to practice on your own. You will get the best technical advice, progress your practice and feel confident. Powerful sequences are designed to create a fluid practice of moving meditation, while also cultivating an awareness of alignment.

The Sacred Forest and the Monastery of – La Verna
5 hour round trip.
Elevation: lowest point 766m/highest point 1283mThis trail takes us through an ancient beech forest directly below the still active monastery. The monastery is perched high on Monte Penna and was built around the cave where spent long periods in retreat communing with nature, and where he also received the Stigmata. There is the chance to explore the monastery and have lunch at the restaurant which serves typical dishes using local ingredients such as truffles and wild boar. We will then continue up to the peak of the mountain where there is a small chapel and a precipice offering stunning views over the valley.
The Abandoned Village
3 hour round trip.
Elevation: lowest point 612m/highest point 826m.
Next is the ‘abandoned village’ of San Silvestre. This once thriving village was deserted after the second world war and since then it has been left open to the destructive forces of nature and has slowly been eaten up by the wilderness. Here trees grow from the middle of the ruins and the only signs of life are the sheep loitering the old lanes and grazing the surrounding fields – like lamas in a mini Macchu Picchu. Although only abandoned this century, the village emanates a feeling of a ‘lost civilisation’. Beautiful place for sunset.
The Ridge Walk
8 hour round trip.
Elevation: lowest point 542m/highest point 1254m.
This is a challenging but highly rewarding walk that follows the ridge around the valley. It leads us through a variety of terrains and remote areas in and outside the national park. It’s possible to walk for hours without seeing another soul or touching tarmac roads. We will bring our lunch with us and have a picnic along the way. On the way back there is the option to stop at the local bar for a well-earned drink. This hike is the best way to get to know and experience the overwhelming beauty this area has to offer.
HIKING WITH GEORGE
George is your guide and host. Aswell as providing you with tasty wholesome meals and a comfy bed for the week he will guide you on rewarding hikes through the beautiful routes described above. He has lived in the national park for over 10 years and has an ever-growing passion to share the place with others. He strives to provide you with an unforgettable experience.
For this retreat we offer only shared accommodation (5 max per room) and camping.
IMPORTANT: Places in the rooms are limited so they are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. When making your booking please communicate whether you would like a bed in a room, or if you are happy to camp. If camping you will need to bring your own tent and sleeping bag. (We may have spare tents and sleeping is one indoor bathroom and toilet, and 2 outdoor compost toilets and showers. Limited electricity is available in the house (only solar power). Various water points are available for clothes washing etc.
