Full Description

Morven teaches in the Akhanda style of yoga; she teaches with a deep respect for the teachings of traditional Hatha yoga and enjoys the creativity inherent in finding how these traditions are meaningful to us in the West today. Morning classes will begin with an early meditation practice followed by a two hour dynamic class. Evening classes will be more restorative.

Springhead is near to Fontmell Magna, Dorset which is close to Shaftesbury and accessible by car or train. The area is one of outstanding natural beauty and it enjoys finer weather than most of the rest of the country. On retreat there will be time to enjoy country walks, or if you are looking for more stillness you can stay at the centre, enjoy the garden and have a massage with one of our two diversely skilled therapists.
There will be classes, workshops and social activities in the programme for the weekend and all of them are optional. You are on retreat to come back to yourself in whatever way feels right to you. Being on retreat can help you destress, and it can also be a time to expand your yoga practice. There will be plenty of opportunity to do both. The yoga classes and workshops will be centred on a theme taken from the teachings of yoga philosophy - this is so that you can broaden your knowledge of yoga and gain a clearer understanding of its roots and meaning. When we understand the context of the practice, we can meaningfully apply it to our daily lives on and off the mat.
The retreat will begin at 4pm on Friday 2nd May and finish at 3pm on Monday 5th May.
This year we will be offering 3 "karma yogi" places at a reduced price for those who would like to join our team for a shift clearing up in the kitchen.
