Type of Event
Scheduled Yoga Sessions and Other Activities
There will be 2 yoga sessions per day. Morning session at 8 am – 10.30 am and 4.00pm – 6pm in the evening.
Morning classes will be uplifting and fun Vinyasa Flow classes. Vinyasa Flow Yoga is like a natural caffeine rush and will set you up for the day ahead, ready to explore the local area. Rosie is also a Pilates instructor and Chartered Physiotherapist and will weave some Pilates and Massage techniques into the classes. This can be great for releasing tight muscles , toning the tummy as well as improving stability around the spine and improving your yoga practice.
Evening Classes will be slower, calmer more restorative Hatha Yoga and Yin Yoga sessions. They will allow you to deeply relax and recharge. Rosie will teach you some simple meditation and breathing techniques you can use at home. These sessions will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy allowing you to feel the present moment and be open to life and new experiences.
We will have time during the day to go through any yoga related questions or discussions and possibly have impromptu workshops as we go along. We will also be doing a lovely candlelit evening meditation session and possibly even an end of week talent show!
The Countryside around Casalino offers much to explore. We will offer a group hike to the Monastery of St Francis of Assisi, where you can explore, chat and have a fabulous Italian lunch. We will also take you to nearby waterfalls to swim – weather depending. There are also many other walks around the retreat, which you are free to explore.
Accommodation and Casalino
Casalino is the name of this old farmhouse situated in an area in the east of Tuscany called the Casentino in Italy. The house is reached by an old stone road only accessible on foot or by 4WD. Casalino lies within the Foreste Casentinese National Park – an area of about 36,000 hectares of uninterrupted forest – and thanks to this the original fauna is reclaiming it’s place.
Being so deep in the wilderness away from civilisation, Casalino very much creates a feeling of retreat from day to day life. It’s the perfect setting to immerse yourself in nature, unplug from your daily life, and reconnect with yourself.
Casalino is a very old rustic house immersed in the nature so the facilities and accommodation are of the basic quality you would expect to find at such a place. However, improvements on the house are constantly being made. Staying at Casalino is reasonably comfortable but it is not a holiday resort so you must be prepared to take care of your own needs of comfort and personal requirements. We offer rooms which can be shared of up to 4 people and places to pitch your own tent. We are not connected the electrical grid. We only have a small solar system so therefore our electricity is very limited, but there is enough to run small devices such as mobile phones chargers etc.
We offer only shared accommodation (4 people max per room) and camping. Places in the rooms are limited so they are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. When making your booking please communicate whether you would like a bed in a room, or if you are happy to camp (prices are the same). If camping you will need to bring your own tent and sleeping bag.
There is one indoor hot shower and toilet, and 2 outdoor compost toilets and cold showers. Limited electricity is available in the house (only solar power). Various water points are available for clothes washing etc.
Food and Costs
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared and cooked for you and are served at regular times every day. All meals at Casalino are vegetarian. The food is freshly-made, good quality wholesome home cooking. Seasonal and local produce are used as much as possible to create a variety of both typical Italian dishes and delicious worldly creations. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. All water flowing into the camp is fresh mountain spring drinking water.
