Yoga Eco Retreat on Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda
Lake Bunyonyi's serene and captivating landscapes make it the perfect setting for a refreshing escape. We will stay at Byoona Amagara, an eco-lodge on one of the islands with unique "GeoDomes" that have beautiful views. In addition to yoga and meditation, we'll take a sunset cruise, go for a hike, and of course take time to relax on the dock.
Type of Event
Departing from Kampala at 8am on Friday morning we should arrive at the lodge by 5pm (giving time for lunch, rest stops, and the boat ride to the island). The next 2 days are activities (as well as rest) on Lake Bunyonyi. Monday we will depart at 9:30am after an early morning yoga session and breakfast, arriving in Kampala by 7pm.
Inclusive of transport to/from Kampala, accommodation, meals at Lake Bunyonyi, and planned activities (including yoga, meditation, canoeing, guided hike, and sunset cruise).
Not included is any transport to Kampala (flights or otherwise), meals or snacks on the road, drinks, shopping, or any extra snacks or activities you might want on your own.
The weekend will include a variety of yoga styles to help invigorate as well relax and restore. In addition to planned activities like canoeing and hiking, there will also be time to relax as you please (nap, take a dive off the dock, read the book that has been waiting for your attention, explore Itambira Island, whatever you want!).
Our accommodation at Byoona Amagara is rustic, blending into the landscape and operating with full eco-conscious sustainability and social responsibility. The facilities are entirely solar powered. The menu is simple but healthy, unique, and satisfying. And the settings, well just looking around will inspire you to breath more deeply! Lake Bunyonyi is known for it's diverse bird life and beautiful flora.
If you're traveling to Uganda on holiday, Lake Bunyonyi is just at the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest where you can trek Mountain Gorillas, so you're perfectly poised for a truly unique and life defining adventure. I can also help connect you to other resources for safaris, rafting, etc. The options in Uganda are immense!
