This workshop focuses on the back care principles of lengthening and strengthening the core and spinal muscles. Participants will learn how combining yoga postures with breath awareness can help one develop a more symmetrical alignment. This is accomplished by stretching muscles that have tightened and strengthening muscles that have become weak from an asymmetrical imbalance. Using the principles of Iyengar yoga, one can find that balance point that allows the scoliosis curve or other spinal imbalances to coexist with gravity, activating the body’s natural plumb line. The result for most people with scoliosis or other back care concerns is better posture, freer breathing and less pain. No previous experience necessary, all levels welcome.
