Type of Event
Bad back? Tight hamstrings? Injuries?
Running and Yoga might not seem like such good bedfellows but there is a lot to be said for pairing up the two. Together they can provide the perfect balance between strength and flexibility.
Payable in advance
If you’re a typical runner you’ll experience too much pounding, tightening, and shortening of the muscles. Before long, to avoid injury, your body will try to compensate causing stress on muscles, joints, and your entire skeletal system.
A sports-specific yoga workshop will help balance strength, increase your range of motion, train your body and mind. You’ll also learn how to coordinate your breath with each subtle stretch and appreciate the effects of elongating movements that build resilience and reduce risk of injuries. The eventual result is that your body, mind, and breath are integrated in all your actions. Systematic asanas (yoga exercises) condition, strengthen and retrain your intrinsic muscle groups to align, support and stabilize your skeletal system in a manner that is the perfect compliment to the effects of running.
This small and exclusive workshop will be led by Sara Jobling. Sara is a biologist, Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapist with 28 years yoga experience. She has been a qualified yoga teacher since 1985 and has recognised professional Yoga Therapy qualifications and a Masters in Health Education Management. Sara has experience teaching yoga specifically for professional athletes and dancers.
