Full Description

Join us on Saturday, January 24th for a 4-hour workshop for students on Yoga for Scoliosis - Living with Our Asymmetries. Anyone with a lateral deviation of the spine or scoliosis is encouraged to come. We will be using the practice of Self-Awakening Yoga to release habitual holding patterns and refine our understanding of the physical body. Working with adapted asanas (postures), we will begin to explore and develop our natural center along with what we need to do to lengthen, strengthen and de-rotate our bodies.

Sunday, January 25th is a 4-hour CEU workshop for teachers who wish to know more about working with students that have scoliosis. You will learn how to compassionately introduce a new way of working on the practice of yoga, including modifications and adaptations that bring stability and balance. We will practice hands-on assists with each other and invite students with scoliosis to serve as models. With their help and willingness to share, teachers will train their eyes to identify and understand what it is like to live and practice with a structural asymmetry.

If possible, invite a friend or student with scoliosis to serve as your model. Students from the Saturday class are also encouraged to join us. They will receive personalized, hands-on attention as teachers learn what it is like for them to practice yoga with scoliosis. This workshop qualifies for continuing education credits through the Yoga Alliance.

Lauri will be teaching a Viniyoga class at Pure Prana on Friday the 23rd from 9:30-10:45am. She is available on Jan. 23 and Jan. 26 for 90-minute private lessons at an additional cost of $120. Please make an appointment in advance by emailing with your preferred date and time. During the session, Lauri will evaluate your spinal curvature and postural alignment, then work with you to develop a short home practice that is tailored to your needs.
