Full Description

Between 8:00 and 10:30 Tanfer will lead morning yoga sessions through the sequences of chanting, meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques) moving on to warming up, followed by sun salutations and then into a dynamic class of asanas (yoga poses) including instruction in the safe practice of asanas. (Tea and fruit will be available before the class)
Following a delicious brunch Tanfer will then lead a programme of guided walks from 12:00, returning at around 5:00 to have time for relaxation prior to dinner at 7:30. There will be a pause mid-afternoon for a short meditation and a light packed lunch. The walks are an integral part of the yoga week, designed to heighten your awareness and to increase your sense of joy.
All but one of the walks offered begin from Huzur Vadisi. On Tuesday and Wednesday heading off in different directions to enjoy the varied views of the beautiful Bay of Fethiye and its islands, and making your way down to the seaside town of Gocek. On Thursday there will be a minibus trip to the site of ancient Cadianda, an amazingly situated Lycian city, rarely visited, on a stunning mountain peak. The walk will include exploring the ruins of this fascinating and atmospheric site.
On Friday there will be a silent walk following the old inland path to the summer pastures where once the villagers used to drive their animals to higher altitudes to escape the summer heat. This walk ends at the Kizildere River, an ice-cold river emerging pristine and sparkling from an underground source to fill a series of pools – for those hardy enough to take a dip it is an exhilarating experience. Walking in silence is a profound experience in which you are able to absorb and connect with the natural world around you, enhanced by your week’s practice of yoga.
Saturday is boat trip day and is also a day of rest with no yoga class or walk, unless you would like to join Tanfer for the short walk to the viewpoint just above Huzur Vadisi for a sunrise meditation. Huzur Vadisi boat trip is legendary, a truly wonderful day out to enjoy the stunning Bay of Gocek, with swimming and lunch freshly prepared on board. For those in the know it is considered to be one of the most beautiful bays in the Mediterranean.
