Yoga Nidra is considered one of the deepest relaxation methods ever. Created thousands of years ago, it was recovered by Swami Satyananda.
It consists on a guided meditation which is practised as laying down. The first 10 minutes are similar to the final savasana of regular Hatha yoga classes. After that we'll make first use of the "sankalpa" (an affirmation or resolution). It is repeated 3 times silently with determination and faith. Each person will use his or her own sankalpa. The intention is to create new patterns in the mind that help us live happier and healthier. After using these affirmation, we'll scan slowly all the body, and then we'll practise some visualisations.
It is better not to fall asleep but it is no big deal when that happens. When done properly, Yoga Nidra is like a 4 hours deep sleep.
