Have you ever experienced slowly awakening from a deep sleep yet, at the same time, noticed that part of you is still lingering with the dream? Take that wonderful, happy state somewhere between being asleep and being awake and add a heightened sense of self-awareness. That is Yoga Nidra.
Yoga Nidra is an ancient form of deep meditation used to relieve tension and anxiety by promoting profound relaxation.
Sometimes referred to as yogic sleep, it is like Svasana, but your conscious awareness will be guided by my voice and
your state of relaxation will be much deeper.
Swami Jnaneshvara Bharati describes Yoga Nidra in this way:
"In Meditation, you remain in the Waking state of consciousness, and gently focus the mind, while allowing thought patterns, emotions, sensations, and images to arise and go on. However, in Yoga Nidra, you leave the Waking state, go past the Dreaming state, and go to Deep Sleep, yet remain awake."
Please dress comfortably for warm-up asana and pranayama followed by yoga nidra.
