PELVIC FLOOR DYSFUNCTION? DON'T BLAME BABY!
Women often blame pregnancy for pelvic floor problems, but carrying a baby is not to blame. Research shows that pelvic floor dysfunction and split abdominals are just as likely to be a problem in women who have never been pregnant. It's not even a gender issue. Men have a pelvic floor (who knew!) and it can cause similar problems for them too. Pelvic lifts (often called Kegels) will make things worse because your pelvic floor is not weak, it's tight. Pounding out sit ups to 'strengthen your core' isn't going to knit your abs back together either because your abdominals aren't weak, they're already buckling under intense pressure. You're a complex system. A whole body approach is important because if you don't fix the root cause, then even surgery is not going work out in the longer term.
