Yoga practice at Basunti

Our workshop venue, Basunti is in a beautiful setting ... it's on a small promontory in a nature reserve in a freshwater lake and bird sanctuary. It's roughly equidistant between Amritsar and Dharamsala ... which is why we meet the group in Amritsar and all go back via Dharamsala.

Full Description

We'll be practicing yoga and pranayama during two sessions of approximately two hours daily. Each day will start with a practice on the panoramic roof of
the main house. This will be followed by a lovely large brunch, which will include fresh fruit and vegetables from the gardens, which surround the verandah, where meals are normally taken.

Afternoons are yours, but are usually spent lazing around the freshwater pool
or swimming in the lake. There are also canoes for those of you who are experienced paddlers. The area is perfect for walking, bird watching, photography or just planning the rest of your life!

Our second yoga session of the day is practiced either on the roof again or in the lovely purpose-built yoga-shala (picture above) overlooking the lake.

One day may be given over to a side trip (if the majority of the group decided it wants to). On that day, there will only be a morning class to allow ample time to enjoy the trip, or just enjoy the surroundings (see the Basunti website for more info).

The kitchen is under the direction of Dave Butterworth who was a
founder member of Neal’s Yard bakery and who produces a mouth-watering array of both European and local vegetarian dishes, whole-wheat breads, pastries and fresh juices.

Fresh line-caught fish from the lake is an option for non-vegetarian on days when the fishermen have been successful/

The cost of the week at Basunti is £600 to include:
- Three meals a day and soft drinks
- Bed for 7 nights (price based on two sharing).
- Two yoga classes a day
- Transfers to and from Basunti: from Amritsar to Basunti and return to Dharamsala.
Does NOT include flights from the UK.
