Full Description

Expand your practice and deepen your love of Yoga.

Most participants of Teacher Training programs have a passion for Yoga and attend to advance and deepen their knowledge and practice of this great tradition. The program will give you the knowledge needed to begin your path as a Yoga teacher.

Graduating participants in Yoga Ink’s 220 hour Yoga Teacher Training program are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).

The eight-weekend course takes six to twelve months. Participants help create the schedule, thus it may be done as an accelerated program or stretched out to suit life commitments. The program sometimes includes a ninth weekend - a workshop with Doug Keller.

Yoga Ink’s program is a comprehensive exploration of more than a dozen styles of asana based Yoga, Meditation and relaxation techniques; the history of Yoga; Patanjali’s classic eight limbed path; anatomy and physiology; and Ethics. Asanas or postures are also studied in depth.

The program brings together a small group of people with a common interest, YOGA. Everyone arrives with ideas and experiences, which are shared and grow within the group format. The course material is presented with printed texts, reprints, CDs, DVDs, guest presenters, hands on instruction and group discussion. Home study is an important part of the course. Creativity is encouraged!

Increase your knowledge of Yoga while seeking your True Self.
Most participants of our program have discovered more of themselves while taking the course. Be prepared to clean house – inside and out, literally and emotionally!

(Yoga Ink’s program exceeds Yoga Alliance’s curriculum standards for the 200 hour level).

Yoga Ink Requirements for Certification
Weekend Class Attendance: Participants must attend all weekend sessions and come prepared to participate in all group discussions and activities. These are required hours and if missed, they must be made up, including all assignments. This may delay the participant’s graduation from the course. (Missing a weekend is not a light decision - only illness or family crisis are acceptable reasons).

Home Study Assignments: These are assigned, for the most part during the first weekend, so students have ample time to prepare. Home Study is a large part of the certification; detailed logs must be kept to record all hours and activities by the students and instructor.

Students are encouraged to build a personal library but other means of acquiring the required books to read is of course permissible. (Most texts are provided). Most of the homework is completed as group projects.

Practice Teaching: Students will have many opportunities in which to practice teaching. In the beginning, students will prepare specific lessons and teach each other. The group will teach classes to public at the end of the course.

Yoga Classes: students must attend weekly Yoga classes throughout the course - these can be in any style and students are encouraged to attend as many styles and levels as possible.

Daily Practice: Students must have a daily practice, and keep a record of it. Certification: Following completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate verifying the hours and requirements were met. It will be up to the participant, if desired, to apply to Yoga Alliance for 200 hour registration. If any part of the training has not been completed, according to the set requirements, Yoga Ink reserves the right to withhold the certificate.
