Full Description

Yoga therapy is a holistic approach to Yoga that makes the practice accessible, self healing, and facilitates injury prevention. It's a process of discovering what works for you as the student and teacher.

Combined with intention and clear direction, we learn how to skillfully recognize a student's needs by drawing on our intuition, experiences and awareness of what's happening now in a student's body.

Poses can be Active (therapeutic) for learning more functional movement or they can be restful and restorative to promote relaxation and recuperation.

Here's What You Will Experience:
• Gain understanding of the wisdom of Yoga therapy: how to offer successful one-on-one client and postural assessments; the structure of a yoga therapy session; injury prevention and management.
•Create a balanced practice through the structure and sequencing of class. Including: movement warm-up; Pranayama; Sankulpa (class intention and theming) through philosophy, asana, or personal experience; and anatomy.
• Explore basic experiential anatomy in a fun, interactive, and memorable way with Asana. A keen understanding of anatomy will guide you in understanding healing strategies for your Yoga therapy clients. Anatomy contains the following: breath perception and connection with postures and affects of Pranayama on the nervous system; the locks’ or Bandhas affect on the endocrine system of the body; the core and breath; skeletal, muscular and circulatory system; spine and joint actions; skin, connective tissue, and fascia, and anatomical movement patterns and physiology.
• Learn valuable alignment skills and cuing techniques that meet the students where they are today.
• Break down key postures specific to therapeutic Yoga; plus active and passive restorative poses.
• Utilize props as tools for enhancing a pose in supportive and nurturing way.

The intensive is suitable for anyone with at least one years consistent yoga experience up to teacher level.
