Yoga Therapy Workshop - Breast Cancer
Workshop focussing on the primary sequence of supported asana recommended for those diagnosed with breast cancer (it is also applicable to other forms of cancer).
Type of Event
Saturday Workshop 10 am - 4.00pm
The Therapy Committee of Iyengar Yoga Association (UK) is running Therapy Workshops in 2019. Open to:
all teachers on the IY(UK) Therapy Register,
teachers who regularly assist Therapy teachers in their therapy classes,
Junior 3 teachers who have attended General classes at RIMYI & have an interest in therapy,
those who teach at Breast Care Centres.
Breast Care nurses may also attend.
The workshops will focus on the primary sequence of supported asana recommended for those diagnosed with breast cancer (it is also applicable to other forms of cancer). Whilst Yoga does not cure cancer, it provides a means by which it can be endured by practising modifications of asana and pranayama to alleviate pain and optimise quality of life. We will take inspiration from BKS Iyengar’s pivotal statements regarding practice during cancer treatment and recovery, learn how to use props during the student's practice and improve our observation skills.
