1-3 pm Workshop Special Asana Technique: Happy Hips
Understanding this major joint for healthier and more integrated movement. Hips are a major player in establishing connection to our foundation and to finding freedom of movement in our whole body! In our asana practice, tight and resistant hips can manifest many challenges from knee vulnerability to lack of balance and stability to a painful lower back. In this session we will look at the range of motion of the hip joint and how the surrounding areas of knees, pelvis and lower back relate to this major joint. We will explore familiar asanas that help us to isolate movement of the hips and give us grounding connection. Free up your hips and watch the rest of the body respond!

11:30-1:30 pm Workshop Special: Kinesthetic Awareness in Yoga
Kinesiology is the study of movement. Do you ever feel like your body is fighting you as you try to get that marichyasana bind? Or do you sometimes feel like you just can't figure out how to work deeper into supta kurmasana- where to release and where to engage? The body is fasinating! As yoga practitioners, the more we understand about the structure and biomechanics of the body, the more safely and effectively we can approach the challenges of asana. How is the skeleton put together and how do the joints and muscles work? In this workshop, learn the basics of body structures and their functionality and how to apply that knowledge to asana. (this class is great for teachers!)
