This workshop is about dropping into our creative center and exploring how yoga practice can bring balance to the second chakra – which is sometimes called the ‘partnership chakra’. This energy center is located at the sacrum and is associated with sensation, feelings, and movement; thus the challenge of the second chakra is to move, feel, and adapt. Svadhisthana literally means one’s own place – and to honor it, we find our personal style and preferences – attributes that we bring into our relationships.
In our yoga practice, we will focus on yoga for the hips and lower back – areas that are often constricted with limited circulation. In yoga, the hips are often referred to as the emotional junk drawer, and learning how to manage the hips physically can be a metaphor for managing emotions and choices off the mat. When the sacral chakra is balanced, we have healthy relationships, a passion for life, and it feels good to be alive.
