Embark on a life-transforming journey in the mystical land of its birth and get to the spiritual heart of the Yogic science and practice.
The Indian word for philosophy is darshana, which literally means ‘vision’. This Retreat brings together the study of Yogic philosophy with the physical practice of asana, so that you may develop a vision of your innermost being. In a world that is anchored in chaos and challenges, and life on the run, it has become harder and harder to just be present, and to live life being true to oneself.
One of the goals of Yoga is to help us live in the NOW. This inspiring seven-day journey provides a solid foundation and understanding of the workings of our mind, and the source of all our thought processes that create our experiences of pain and pleasure. You will study the Yoga Sutras and asana, with an in-depth study of BKS Iyengar alignment principles in key poses, while developing inner and outer awareness in your mind and body, so that you may simply learn to be present and awake to each moment, becoming more conscious of the subtle layers within yourself. This deepened sense of awareness enables you to work on those parts of you that need strengthening so that you may evolve to your highest human potential, building a foundation for healing, vitality and spiritual growth.
The Yoga Retreat is held on a stunning property on the best beach in North Goa, on a quiet part of Ashvem beach, nestled amidst coconut palm trees and lush plantations. Sleep in a wonderful and comfortable beach hut as you listen to the sound of the ocean, the wind in the palms and the chirping of the birds. Stroll along white-sandy beaches with warm waters and swaying coconut palms.
Spend your afternoon at the famous Anjuna market. Sip chai or a coconut at a beach shack and chill to Goan trance while the sun sets over the Arabian sea. Hire a scooter and explore colorful seaside villages, Portuguese churches, Hindu temples, and lush spice plantations. Or open your body with a deeply healing Ayurvedic Yoga Massage.
Two classes a day, a morning two hour Classical Hatha Yoga practice with Pranayama and Meditation techniques, followed by lively discussions of the Yoga Sutras, makes this a transformational experience that integrates ancient wisdom with a mindful practice, enabling you to evolve your practice beyond the walls of the studio and into daily life.
