Perfect yoga retreat

My husband and I recently stayed at Niyagama House, Elke's amazing yoga retreat in Sri Lanka, as part of our honeymoon. In terms of the yoga, both of us were very new to it (myself having only ever attended a few classes and my husband having never tried it) but thought we'd give it a try and we definitely didn't regret it. We loved the first session so much we signed up to the 3 day package and also booked an extra afternoon session.

We never thought we'd be up at 6.30 exercising on our honeymoon but Elke made it so enjoyable, we couldn't get enough of it! The view from the yoga room was breathtaking also.

We did the morning salutions, yin yoga and Ariel. Elke explained the poses in perfect detail as well as demonstrating them and correcting / adjusting us when necessary. We were able to go at our own pace and really work to our ability without feeling pressured into anything. We came out of each session feeling energised and as though we had really done something very good for our bodies.

Elke was a great teacher and has really inspired us to persue yoga when we get back to the UK.

Paradise on earth

The property was beautiful, calm, and surrounded by nature. The staff were extremly helpful and accomodsting. Elke made us feel at home. Niyagama exceeded all our expectations. A good selection of Sri Lankan Food and other options. The food was so good that after trying another restaurant in town we decided to only eat at Niyagama. For those looking for the retreat we would highly recommend it. Elke's energy was contagious and her Yoga and Meditation style brought the Zen out in us.

She was very accomodating in terms of schedule, as well as adapting the classes to fit all levels. The rooms are beautiful. It is evident every single detail was thought through, from the wooden beds, to German quality toilet, eco friendly toilettries and the complementary fruits in the room. The staff at Niyagama helped us with all the transportation needs, arranging tuk tuk transport to the city as well as a scenic and comfortable airport ride. All in all, an unforgetable experience. We were sad to leave, but left with inner peace and will definitely return!

Yoga Paradise within Teaplantage of Sri Lanka

This was the best time of our holiday in Sri Lanka. We stayed only for 3 days at the Niyagama house and loved all of it. Yoga (Meditation in the morning, 1,5 hours Hatha Yoga and Arial Yoga in the afternoon) and Ayurveda treatments every day. Delicious food, very helpful stuff. Elke is a enthusiastic and joyful teacher and host.
We'd love to come back and can totally recommend this retreat!

paradise

This is such a wonderful place to truly relax and rejuvenate. Wonderful facilities, incredible tranquil location in the middle of nature and a fantastic selection of yoga and meditation classes with the wonderful teacher Elke as well as lots of other activities. Great place to visit where you can do as much or as little yoga as you desire and a great place for couples at different stages or where one is a non yogi. Heaven!

Oasis for a soul - Niyagama House

This place is perfect if you want either simply relax and reload your batteries or if you are an experienced yoga practicioner. It is possible to do different kinds of yoga there, even hot yoga! Yoga room the same as the rest of the house is made with a great taste. I love wooden floor and especially I like wide windows that are usually open and you almost feel the nature and see the garden and tea plantation.
Yoga class with teacher Elke was great. My husband tried yoga for the first time in his life and enjoyed it as well (I was surprised!).

Wonderful stay at Niyagama House

I spent 4 days at Niyagama House and this stay was my personal highlight of my 17 days trip through Sri Lanka. I enjoyed this boutique hotel - made of many details with love - a lot and the beautiful surrounding and personal treatment by the staff at Niyagama House made my stay an unforgettable memory. The yoga and meditation classes with Elke were great and food was very nice, too, and there is always at least one local dish on the menu. I can recommend this hotel to everybody who is looking for inner peace and for a location to fully replenish your batteries!
