Prepare to stay quiet

If you want to stay quiet, and that is literaly, with no contact to the staff, Maybe this place is for you. Be prepared to make sure you don't get injured, because they have no clinic, and little ways to help you get to one. The food is good, but not very balanced as a vegetarian diet. The satsang are exotic, but people tend to ruin the experience for you by being slightly too intense, so far as forcing you to close your eyes, in order for them to concentrate.

some teachers are absolutely amazing, and some others aren't. the teachers are usually taught, plough through the pain, which is not necessarily healthy, mostly for people with previous injuries. Saraswati, the director of the children's camps, and various actitvities is usually mean to the volunteers to the point where she makes them cry... and it seems far away from the yogic detachment and cool that they so strongly advertise...

My humble opinion

Very nice quiet place to practice and to connect with your inner self.
The energy of the Masters (founder) is felt everywhere.
Due to the cold temperatures , in winter , the Mathaji Hall for asanas practice can be uncomfortable because the room never gets warm enough.

Great place to come back to yourself!

I did my Yoga Teacher Training at the Ashram in Val-Morin and had a profound experience. The teachings are very well organized and structured and enable to students to easily grasp the sometimes difficult concepts of yoga. The dwellings are simple and exactly what is necessary to focus on coming into yourself. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The grounds are fabulous! I went during winter and absolutely loved it, there is a special energy a light in that forest, especially when the snow shimmers :). Go and bring peace to yourself. It's the most important step towards living in a peaceful, loving world.

The Real Deal

I first discovered the Yoga Camp in 2012, and was so impressed that I ended up volunteering as staff afterward. I was very happy there and benefited from the practice a lot. I wasn't by any means new to yoga, but the Ashram showed me a whole new side of the practice. The schedule and programming allow one to become fully immersed in the yogic lifestyle, expanding beyond merely the physical side of things.

During my stay I was occasionally visited by my family, who were new to yoga but also quite impressed by the Ashram and were able to benefit from the practice as well. The staff are very sincere and helpful, especially Swamiji, the director, who is a very nice man. If I could sum up the Yoga Camp in one word, I would say: Authentic, or perhaps, Awesome, but if I could say more words, I would say: you should go there, like right now! :) OM

Complete Yoga Experience

The Sivananda Yoga Camp is definitely the place to have a comprehensive Yoga experience. The place is located in amidst the marvellous Laurentian Mountains, which provide the perfect setting for a relaxed and recharging stay. I have stayed in a tent a number of times and the experience is just priceless.

Information about the schedule and special program you can find it at their website. All the ashram activities and classes are based on the teachings of Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnu, Indian masters that taught Yoga in its purest and traditional way. There are not only excellent Hatha Yoga classes, but also daily meditation sessions, yoga philosophy lectures, mantra chanting, ayurveda treatments, etc.

I felt the place gives you the opportunity to deeply immerse yourself in the yogic life style, something that's difficult to achieve in a city environment.
The food has always been plentiful, tasty and well-balanced vegetarian meals that are cooked by the volunteer staff.
By the way, the ashram is run by volunteers who are committed to the yoga life. They are super supportive and always ready to help you. The senior teachers are very knowledgeable and have a lot of experience in teaching all aspects of yoga, which I think is a rare thing to find these days.
Whether you are a beginner looking to learn yoga in a stress-free environment or whether you have been doing asanas for a while and are looking to explore more meditation and other traditional yoga practices, I totally recommend it.

A genuine Yoga retreat in North America

Sivananda Ashram Yoga Camp is a genuine Yoga ashram outside of India. The approach is holistic, classical and authentic. A rare experience outside of India. Strongly recommended for yogis of all level.
