About Tambo Ilusion Retreat Center
Tambo Ilusion has been awarded TripAdvisor's Certificate of Excellence for the past three years! It was also chosen as one of the top 5 yoga retreat centers of Peru by El Comercio newspaper.
This tropical jungle property is operated by Johanne and Armando, a Canadian/Peruvian couple. Johanne is originally from Montreal Canada and is a certified Hatha and SUP yoga instructor, Reiki master and eating psychology coach. Throughout your stay, Johanne will share with you some healthy habits and tips.
Armando, a leader in the conservation movement of Peru is originally from Lima. After living many years in the Cusco area where he worked as a professional photographer, tourist guide on the Inca Trail and as a rafting guide, he travelled to Tarapoto and encountered a beautiful property and it was love at first sight. Armando made Tambo Ilusión his home 29 years ago and has been protecting his property, its forest and its water source ever since. Armando has many interesting stories to share about his adventures concerning his beloved, beautiful and diverse country, Peru.
Johanne, an avid travelor at the time, also fell in love with the natural beauty of Tambo Ilusión on her first visit.
Johanne started and ran a successful yoga studio in Bromont, Canada. She shared her passion for yoga in that space for two years before moving in with Armando at Tambo Ilusión in the Peruvian jungle. It is with the intention of creating a special place to gather, practice, share and learn yoga as well as learn about caring for our health and the health of mother nature that Johanne started her yoga project at Tambo Ilusión.
Yoga teachers are welcome to host their retreats in this beautiful nature reserve.
In 2010, the illusion of conservation became reality when the Ministry of Environment of Peru acknowledged the efforts made by Armando and granted his property the Ministerial Resolution of ACP, "Area de Conservación Privada" (Private Conservation Area) . As an ACP, Tambo Ilusión belongs to the large group of Protected Natural Areas of Peru at the same rank as Manu national park, Pacaya Samiria natural reserve, Machu Picchu historical sanctuary, etc.
Johanne and Armando are passionate about what they do and are happy to share their little paradise with guests. Welcome!
